Can you take Colladeen® Visage and Collagen Beauty together?

Collagen Beauty could help, too. While these nutritional formulas can’t reverse the ageing process, they may support and repair collagen structures and reduce age-related decline.

What is collagen?

The most abundant protein in the human body, collagen is a fibrous, scaffolding-like structure that provides the main building blocks of connective tissues, such as skin, hair, muscles, tendons, and ligaments (1).

The body produces its own collagen proteins from cells called fibroblasts, found predominantly in the dermis (the middle layer of skin) (2). The body works hard to replenish its natural collagen reserves to prevent breakdown.

This process is simple in the early years of life: more collagen is created than lost. But with age, fibroblast activity slows down, and collagen production declines, tipping the balance of the scales (3).

Changes in collagen often cause changes in complexion. Collagen loss may be subtle at first. It may appear around the naturally fuller areas of the face, like the cheeks. You may also notice the odd line creeping in, or the under-eye area darkening. Skin aside, your nails may become more brittle, and the texture and colour of your hair may change.

Of course, there’s nothing wrong with embracing fine lines, wrinkles, and greying hair. However, there’s also nothing wrong with wanting to challenge the signs of ageing. And if you want to look after your complexion as you age, there are many ways to slow collagen decline and help you feel radiant.

How does Collagen Beauty support collagen?

Our high-strength collagen supplement, Collagen Beauty, is derived from porcine collagen and provides VERISOL® Bioactive Collagen Peptides with biotin, vitamin C, and silica in capsule form. We’ve specifically optimised our formula for beauty applications, stimulating collagen metabolism and counteracting collagen loss.

VERISOL® Bioactive Collagen Peptides have the same nutritional profile as collagen but have undergone 'enzymatic hydrolysis', a process that breaks down the nutrients in collagen into shorter chains of proteins, which makes it easier to absorb.

VERISOL® stimulates the fibroblasts – cells in the dermal layer of the skin – to increase their metabolic activity. The result? Higher collagen synthesis, balancing the loss from environmental toxins and ageing.

People using VERISOL® may notice increased skin elasticity, reduced wrinkles and fine lines, improved skin surface and cellulite, and healthier hair and nails within 2-3 months of daily use.

How does Collagen Beauty support skin?

Research into collagen supplements has increased exponentially in the last decades. And in the context of cultivating beauty from within, the findings are promising.
A study on 69 women aged between 35 and 55 reported that supplementing with bioactive collagen peptides for four weeks significantly increased skin elasticity compared to the placebo treatment (4). Equally encouraging was another study on more than 100 women aged between 45 and 65, which found oral administration of collagen peptides reduced wrinkle depth after four weeks (5).
H2: How does Collagen Beauty support nails?

Some research suggests collagen supplements may support nail health, too. A 2017 study on a small group of women aged 26 and 50 reported bioactive collagen peptides decreased cracked and chipped nails by 42% after six months of use (6).

How does Collagen Beauty support hair?

Hair health is another area worth mentioning. In a randomised, placebo-controlled study on 44 women aged between 39 and 75 years, researchers found those taking bioactive collagen peptides saw an increase in hair thickness after 16 weeks (7).

How does Colladeen® Visage support complexion?

Unlike Collagen Beauty – which helps replace collagen in the body – Colladeen® Visage contains compounds that serve as cofactors for collagen production, supporting and repairing collagen structures.

Colladeen® Visage provides high levels of powerful antioxidants called anthocyanidins.  Found in the deep, red, purple, and blue pigments in plants, this class of compounds is believed to support collagen integrity throughout the body (8). Anthocyanidins also have incredible antioxidant qualities, which help protect your complexion from further damage.

Colladeen® Visage combines super-strength anthocyanidins with two other critical plant extracts for skin health: lutein and green tea. Lutein is a well-known carotenoid found in leafy green vegetables, where it protects plants from excessive sun damage – and operates much the same in the body. Green tea, meanwhile, is a source of polyphenols, naturally occurring compounds that contribute to the protection of oxidative damage.

Colladeen® Visage also includes vitamin C, which supports normal collagen formation for the normal function of skin and blood vessels, along with biotin and niacin to maintain normal skin.

In our 24-week ground-breaking study, we found Colladeen® Visage reduced wrinkle depth and appearance by 6%, increased skin elasticity and firmness, reduced spider veins by 50%, and achieved a natural sun protection factor of 15.

So, can you take them together?

In short: yes. These two products complement each other perfectly. Collagen Beauty helps replace collagen, while Colladeen® Visage helps maintain and repair collagen structures. Together, they’re a force to be reckoned with for your overall complexion.
